  Bristow
In memory of Bristow, a sweet and wonderful Brittany whose life was cut short due to prostate cancer.? Bristow loved life, a good walk in the snow and sitting in your lap, though he was a big boy.? We wish him many romps in the snow beyond the Bridge.

She was a very special dog. I felt a true connection with her before we even met. She was as loyal and loving girl as I could have ever wished for. She loved her comforts snuggling in bed, head and belly rubs, curling up by the fire. She is well loved and missed.

Ed and I adopted Toad in July 2003 (we re-named him Toad from Jodi because of the way he laid down – back legs straight out behind him!) and he left the biggest, fuzziest pawprints on our hearts than we could ever imagine.  He taught us what rescue was all about.  Because he had been abused and neglected, he had some issues, but had the biggest, fullest heart I have ever seen in a dog and showed us what unconditional love really really is.  He brought us smiles and laughs all the time.  Hi fur was the softest I have ever encountered and the fluffiest.  He LOVED running around in the back yard with his little brother Apache (our first foster-fail for NEBR in February 2004!) and gave us the best 9 years of his life.  Every night when it was time to go to bed he would stand at the top of the stairs waiting for me to bring his bedtime treats up and would spin in circles and bounce.  His nickname was “Bouncy Toad”.  Toad crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning at 13 years old with me holding his face in my hands.  He was diagnosed with a very large tumor on his spleen just this past Monday and we spent his last week with him cuddling and spoiling him as much as we could…we will never ever be able to heal the hole he has left in our hearts but remember him with so much happiness.  He loved the nests that he would make out of soft, fuzzy blankets (or laundry if there was a pile on the floor!) and loved going on walks and car rides.  Toad was the smallest member of our bunch but had the biggest heart and the fluffiest fur….Toad Liebig 1/1/99 – 2/17/12  Your big, fuzzy pawprints left forever prints on our hearts little dude.
Branston f/k/a Brent at the shelter in Troy, NY was a close-to-senior rescue we fell head over heals for in Feb 2006. Having been a stray near the streets of Troy NY no one was completely sure if he was 6 or 8, but frankly we didn’t care either way. As owners of a NH B&B we were looking for a mellow boy for inside and lively boy for outside and he fit the bill so well. He was loved by all of our guests and neighbors and family. We said our goodbyes in October after struggling with a tracheal collapse and miss him every day since. With a gentle breakfast presence in the dining room, he was a happy smiling gentleman with a preference for blueberry muffins and who, if a human probably would have sported a pipe and cap. Brannie’s favorite past time was flushing out the pheasant in the 300 acre Sawyer farm fields next door where he brought us on many adventures tracking all manner of creatures, even a bobcat and more than a few turkeys. Thank you Brittany Rescue for connecting us with our Brannie Man. Sue Lyle
When I brought my darling Douglas home, he was a very timid dog. He never looked at me (except on the sly), wouldn't take food from my hand, and I didn't even know he could bark for over a year. I smothered him with love & constant praise with as much affection as he could stand. He became the dog he was always meant to be, confident, loyal & trustworthy to a fault, stubborn, loving & wonderful. And always the gentlest guy in the world. He always had troubles with arthritis but a little Rimadyl helped. Also, he was a couple of years older than you guys thought.  The vet said the eyes don't lie & they showed it. Everything happened so quickly. One thing after another & I kept taking him to the vet. We solved the problems that could be solved...anyway, this trooper that he was gave up at the end of the last 2
really hard weeks. I took him for a ride because the car was what he loved most in the whole world. And that's where I was
holding him & loving him when the vet bid him his final goodbye. Thank you with all my heart for allowing me to give Douglas his 'forever home'...in my heart.

Becky is my father’s beloved best friend who passed away in September 2011.  Dad, this is a message from Becky to you.

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,  I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.  I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free  Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.  I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side  Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!  And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see  Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!  My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new  And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.  I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright  That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.  'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold  And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.  For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,  We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.  So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart  If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
